This year has thrown up so many challenges and it is now more than ever that we need to support each other and just be kind. Mental Health is equally as important to us as much as physical well-being. Public and media attention devotes much of its time to “looking good” but sadly mental health still often remains in the shadows shrouded in stigma. We all at some point enter the “darkness” and for me this is something I can relate to on a personal level. Given many years of struggling with invisible illnesses and ongoing surgery. I have strived to remain fit. I have battled the frustrations of the “fog” “low energy” “mood changes” “motivating myself” “working through the darkness” “anger that comes from the frustrations” “sometimes feeling like you need to hide in the shadows” I was ignorant towards the benefits of any kind of therapy. Having now gone through the therapy journey I cannot recommend the importance of firstly simply talking to then learning coping strategies to manage those thoughts and feelings. Abi Most of us fear talking, getting upset, bottle up emotions. I now use my therapy journey to help others alongside my fitness training. Just a little kindness and understanding can go a long way.
